What is Business Analytics?

"Business analytics (BA) refers to the skills, technologies, practices for continuous iterative exploration and investigation of past business performance to gain insight and drive business planning"

You could have read it from WikiPedia 😜. Why are you here then? . Everyone give long definitions and finally we get confused. Let me try to break it down .
Business Analytics is all about learning about a particular business by looking at the past and the present situations ,and giving insights and conclusions.
Let us go to the practical side.How can we do it?
Mainly there are four units that buildup Business Analytics and it answers some questions they are

1)Descriptive Analytics
"What happened?","Why happened?","What's happening?" and "Why happening?"  

2)Predictive Analytics
"Whats is likely to happen and why?"

3)Discovery Analytics
Mining through our data and looking for interesting patterns and correlations

4)Prescriptive Analytics
"What we should do?"

Finally Business Analytics is  Exploring , Explaining, Experimenting  and Forecasting
